I’m Valerie, lei maker & owner of Hakus & Love! I’m living my dream as a floral designer out of my little beach cottage in Huntington Beach California. I’m a single mother to my beautiful babies, Marigold & Sage & life is full of sun, sand, silliness, & of course, lots of flowers.

I’ve been a dancer ever since I could walk & living by the ocean I naturally got into a local hula halau to live my island princess dreams. This is where I leaned lei making, Hawaiian language & hula. My Kumu hula & her family, instilled such a love & respect in me for Hawaiian culture and taught me to cherish the traditions.

I’ve always had a love for flowers & studied floral design in college “just for fun”. Florals for me have always just been for the love of it. Once I learned lei making I was hooked. I loved the fact that it held sacred tradition & i felt this overflowing of gratefulness every time I would adorn someone with a crown of flowers. I started Hakus & Love as an outpouring of creativity & excitement to celebrate others. My whole heart goes into this floral art. Every flower & leaf are placed with such thought, to make you feel cherished, beautiful, powerful, wonderful & loved.
